Waiting On God

May 11, 2011

Contrary to what many believe, waiting on God is not a passive state. In the natural, waiting is defined as to stay, remain, linger, stop, delay or pause. But I have come to realize waiting is not defined by the same manner on a spiritual level. Waiting is an action word when our spiritual lives are concerned.  While waiting on God, we are still believing, hoping, praying, growing, developing, evolving, expecting, and the list goes on. Waiting on God is an act of faith. It requires one to be hopeful and to maintain high expectations. When we wait on God, we wait with expectancy of great things to manifest. When we wait on God, our faith does not decrease but it increases. Everything involved with waiting indicates we are taking action.

Waiting says we desire for only His perfect will to manifest in our lives.  When others have given up on God and take matters into their own hands, those that continue to wait on God prove their level of maturity.       Immature children want it now and have tantrums when they do not get their way. The mature ones have learned from their past and realize they need their Father's guidance and help in their life journey. They recognize they are not capable of deciding alone. They welcome His Hand in their life matters. Those that choose to wait on God are saying through their actions that they trust God.  They trust His plans for their life and they trust His ability to make it a reality. Waiting on God is a good thing and we cannot get tired of doing what is good. We can't get discouraged and give up if we want to reap our harvest of blessings at the appropriate time.  So today be reminded of what Habakkuk 2:3, says “The vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. “

Keep your expectations high!

See Your Challenges as Opportunities

March 2, 2011

Challenges in life can come through people and situations. I have come to see challenges as opportunities and I now know that each experience has a purpose. You have to approach them with the mindset that asks what is the purpose of this difficult experience. One must shift your focus from the problem, the struggle, the pain, and the inconvenience of things and begin to focus on how one can grow as an individual. Begin to focus on the person that needs to emerge from the experience.

Most challenges are for one of several reasons or a combination of them. Their purpose may be to help you learn more about yourself, to help you grow personally and spiritually, and to prepare you for another level in life. Other times they may be necessary in order for you to draw closer to God and discover more about Him and His ways.

It is common for people to become bitter, angry, resentful, and/or defeated because of their hardships. But these things are not what God intends for His children. Christ came so that you could have life and have it more abundantly.  When you seek God for refuge and equip yourself with His Word, you can emerge from challenges optimistic, hopeful, whole, and with your mind intact. With God’s help and according to His plan, you can become stronger and wiser. He intends for you to hold on to your joy and prevail as a victor and not a victim!

I encourage you to be intentional about discovering who God wants you to become through your challenges and diligently seek His purpose for them in your life. Most importantly, be ready to embrace who you develop into. His word says “We are more than conquerors and gain a surpassing victory through Him Who loved us”. With God’s help we are able to triumph over anything we face in life. Keep pressing forward in spite of life’s trials. Remain confident that God is your refuge and strength, a very present help in your times of trouble.

What is a Vision Board?

- A powerful visualization tool used to activate the universal law of attraction.

- A powerful visualization tool used to begin manifesting your dreams into reality.

What does a Vision Board consist of?

- It is a visual representation of your dreams and desires.

- It is a collage of pictures and words that represent a combination of what you want to have in your life, what you want to be in life, and what you want to do in life.

What is the purpose of a Vision Board?

- To attract the things you want in your life.

- To be a frequent reminder of your vision, your dreams, and your goals.

How to create your Vision Board?

- Cut pictures, words, and phrases from magazines.

- Strategically place them on a poster board using glue.

- You may also choose to place a picture of yourself in the middle of the poster board.

How does it work?

- Your vision board needs to be highly visible and strategically placed so you can view it frequently.

- The pictures, images, words, and phrases should evoke positive emotional responses.

- The sight of your vision board should fuel your passion to achieve your goals.

- By surrounding yourself with the images of what you want, your life will change to match those dreams and desires represented on the vision board.

Why to avoid New Year's Resolutions

January 30, 2011
Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Every year men and women participate in the annual tradition involving New Year’s resolutions but have yet to achieve any real success over the years. Most start out with the best intentions but do not realize success is never found with intentions alone. Achieving success involves a combination of things. One has to set clear goals, plan, be committed, and stay determined.

So in January 2011, step out of the insanity and step into your solution. Do things differently this year. Larry Elder said a goal without a plan is just a wish. Start with your goals. You need to set realistic goals and to write your goals down. It is important not to overwhelm yourself. After you have accomplished your initial goals, then it would be appropriate to examine other areas of your life in which you desire change. Your goals should always line up with your values and your beliefs. In order to reach your goals, you must have a plan of action. Your plan will be your map on your journey to success. Commit to yourself, your goals, and the changes you want for your life. Once you are committed, stick to the plan, and be determined to make it to the finish line.

Lastly, be accountable. An accountability partner can help you stay on track and stay focused if you cannot do it by yourself. The change you want in your life begins with changing your approach. So drop the resolutions for some real goals and plan for real results!

More About Motivation

January 30, 2011
Staying motivated can be difficult at one point or another for even the most driven individual. In my work as a life coach, I have found that clients are not always lacking motivation. Sometimes other issues may cause people to feel as if they are not motivated.

I always begin by explaining to clients there will be periods when we are less motivated and inspired. I encourage them to have these moments, accept them, and move on. When it is extended beyond a reasonable amount of time then it may be necessary to dig a little deeper.

Have you ever found yourself with clear goals and a strong desire to achieve them but you are slow to move or take action? It may be that you are actually overwhelmed by all the work to be done in order to achieve your goals. Without a solid plan or strategy, you will become overwhelmed. You may not know where to start so therefore you do nothing. To overcome this proper planning is necessary. When you can’t figure out what to do for the next 6 weeks, try planning for the next 6 days or 6 hours. Break your bigger plan into smaller steps and achieve the immediate goals. This will free up your time and energy. It will also help you gain momentum to address the bigger pieces if the puzzle.

I have also discovered scenarios where the problem is more related to experiencing diminished faith or increased hopelessness. When you do not have faith or hope that what you are doing will actually accomplish what you desire, then it is time to reconnect with your heavenly Father. He is the originator of our dreams, vision, & divine purpose. In Jeremiah 29:11, the Lord says I know the plans I have for you. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Hebrews 11:1 says faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen. There will be times when you may lose faith in your plan or hope in ever achieving your goals. Keep the faith and stay connected to the source of your plans and goals.

Be realistic, have a plan, keep the faith and keep pressing forward towards your dreams and goals!

Finding Freedom

January 30, 2011
When we hear the word freedom we tend to automatically reference a physical state but it also relates to an individual’s mental status. As a life coach, clients come to me with a need to reclaim their personal freedom. There are some simple but effective ways of accomplishing this.

Some find themselves trapped in the mental prisons of limited thinking and negative mindsets. Both cause us to believe we will fail before we even try. Our thoughts shouldn't limit or defeat us. Begin to change your thought process. Think positive thoughts about yourself and what you are capable of accomplishing. In your thoughts and dreams the possibilities are endless. Find freedom in your thoughts.

It is common for people to feel bound by their past. Past mistakes and experiences can equip us to better handle situations and circumstances the second time around. But the key is to reflect on the past, accept it, and move on. Ultimately, the goal is to use the past as a learning tool. With so much greatness ahead of you there is no need to keep reliving what is old. Find freedom in letting go of the past.

There is freedom in knowing who you really are. We need to learn everything we can about ourselves. Many times it seems easier to overlook our weaknesses and shortcomings. But once we acknowledge them, no one can use them against us. Spend time honestly thinking about who you are and what you want from life. Acknowledge the shortcomings but also confirm the greatness, the divine connection, the strength and the power within you. Find freedom in self-knowledge.

John 8:36 is a great reminder that whom the Son sets free, is free indeed! You do not have to be bound by anything or anyone. Through Christ you are no longer bound by fear, self doubt, or feelings of inadequacy. All things are possible through Christ who strengthens us. There is no longer a need to live up to or be limited by the expectations of others. You cannot be held back by others. Through Christ you are free to live the abundant life as He intended. Find freedom in Christ.

What will you break free from today? If you need help reclaiming your personal freedom, email me at lisapeasant@gmail.com to schedule a consultation.

Motivation

January 30, 2011
We all know motivation can be difficult to maintain at times. These are few points that should assist individuals who have trouble staying motivated or have struggled to do so in the past.

Goal setting is important to motivation. The dream, goal, or desired outcome should be one that is true to your authentic self. It should be genuine and something one is passionate about. Successful achievement of goals is more possible when they are tied to something we find truly fulfilling. It is always important to reevaluate our goals and make certain they line up with our beliefs, values, and divine purpose. Take time to write down your goals and revisit them from time to time. This will help maintain focus and clarity.

We have to know what motivates us. Contrary to what many think, money is not a true motivator. It is a temporary motivator at best. Money does not produce a sustained, consistent level of motivation. Ask yourself why the goal is important and why you feel it is important to accomplish it. Take time to know what has hindered you or caused you to give up in the past. This will give you the opportunity to prepare accordingly this go around. Learning to clear hurdles takes practice. When you face the same hurdles in life, use your past experiences to your advantage. What caused you stumble before will not stand a chance this time!

Lastly, we have to be realistic. Doing so reduces the chances of being overwhelmed and discouraged. It is great to multi task and accomplish more. But it is better to give a few projects 100% or more of ourselves than to give many projects subpar attention. It compromises the quality of our work and compromises the potential of our return. Be careful and resist the urge to take on more than you can handle at one time. Remember quality over quantity. Flexibility is necessary when pursuing a dream or trying to achieve a goal. Adjust to unforeseen challenges and keep moving forward. Results may not come on our timeline or on the level we expected but that should not stop anyone. Be realistic about the process and the journey to avoid discouragement.

Know yourself, know your motivation, be realistic, and do not forget to enjoy the journey!

Celebrate YOU!

January 30, 2011
Today Is the Day to Declare: I accept myself just as I am!

By accepting yourself, you are also acknowledging that God did not make a mistake when He created you. He created each of us uniquely and we have no need to be exactly like anyone else. We live in a time when people want to fit in. People want to be associated with society’s established idea of normal. To many this translates into acceptance from others. In many cases it does not happen that way. The goal is to never compromise your core values. These days magazines, TV, music, and the Internet are bombarding people with false ideas of what people should look like and how their lives should be. Do not allow yourself to be torn down emotionally and mentally. Your identity is important. It should be based upon who your Creator says you are. Staying true to your authentic self can be a challenge but it’s worth the battle.

Today Is the Day to: Embrace everything about you!

Celebrate yourself today! It feels good when others recognize the wonderful things about you but it's even more fulfilling when you recognize them about yourself. If you are good at something, then give yourself credit. Many times we seek outside validation but most times it does not come. Do not wait on others to applaud you. Applaud Yourself! No longer subject yourself to the opinions of others. No longer live by the expectations of others. We all have strengths and weaknesses. Take time to celebrate your strengths. When it comes to weaknesses, we must first acknowledge them. This gives us power over them, therefore, we can then change them. You may not always eliminate them but there comes a time when you can decide to no longer allow them to work against you and what you want in life. So today embrace your strengths, your weaknesses, your uniqueness, your failures, & your triumphs! They are all YOU & the sum total of YOUR GREATNESS!

What my daughter taught me about being a child of God

January 30, 2011
I have a three year old daughter who is completely dependent upon me for all her needs. She does not worry or wonder about anything. She does not concern herself with all the little details. She depends on me to provide everything she needs in life. She just asks and expects to receive. She comes to me confident that I can do anything and that I have all the answers. I recognize how she depends on me and how she has this confidence in me all the time regardless of what the situation involves. I soon started to see that as a child of God I needed to mirror my child when it comes to my relationship with God. It is no question I consider Him my heavenly Father but I realized that for years I was letting Him exercise His parental rights when it was convenient for me and my agenda. Through my role as a parent, I have learned some things that have added to and expanded my relationship with my Father. I have learned to depend on God for everything and to always be confident in Him and His will for my life.

God is faithful. In other words, He is consistent and does what He says He will do. This is why we can be confident in Him. Romans 1:17 says the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith. Take time to reflect on the previous times God has proven Himself to you. Be confident that He will do it again, and again, and again. We are to be anxious for nothing but submit our requests to Him in prayer. Once we do so, we leave it alone. We can be confident that God will grant our requests according to His will. And if it is not granted then we know it was not the best for us. God’s way ensures we will have His best. His way also ensures all things will work together for our good. Why doubt Him? He is God. He is faithful. We are His children. Be confident knowing that just as earthly parents want the best for their children, our heavenly Father wants the best for us!

When we are consistently dependent upon God, we truly cast our cares upon Him.
We do not hand something over then take it back. We do not hand our health issues over to Him and keep our financial issues to ourselves. No, we consistently depend on God; we cast ALL our worries upon Him. Then we are free from worry and stress. Not having to deal with anxiety, depression, or a defeated spirit makes us available to do God’s work. Because we are not bound by our own issues, we can focus on serving God and blessings others. Once our minds are free from worry and stress, we can then focus on praising God, lifting Him up, and spending time with Him. When we are bogged down with mess, so many important things go unattended. Free yourself! Let God be the parent you need Him to be.
